Under the Sea
I don’t know that majestic is really the word for what they’re witnessing.
A lot of people (and probably Poseidon himself) seem to feel that the God of the Sea got kind of a bad deal. I mean, he wanted to rule the sky but his youngest brother ends up getting to be the chief god while he has to lurk, pruney and wrinkled, at the bottom of the ocean. But really, oceans take up most of the earth’s surface, there’s a ton of cool stuff going on down there, and humans have been travelling on it for a crazy long time. It’s really not that bad of a gig, when it comes down to it.
Although I guess it is also the world’s largest toilet…
You take the good with the bad, I suppose.
Anyway, I’d like to apologize for the 2 week absence. I moved, rather abruptly, to Brooklyn last weekend and will be staying here for some undetermined amount of time. It took me a week to pack up and clean up and it has taken me almost another week to unpack and settle in and start getting used to being out here. It’s a very different experience living in the city than living in the small town I’m coming from.
I’m hoping to get back on schedule next week and to get a proper schedule made up for getting some other projects started or completed this weekend.
Thanks for being so patient!
Just happy to be reading your stuff, whenever you have time to publish it. How you enjoy your borough experience.
How=Hope. It was really meant as a ‘well wish’ not a question.
We’re all just happy that you keep making these awesome comics, no need to apologise to us 😀
Opul speaks for us all! Thank you for this awesome comic.
Haha. If you come here from the facebook page, the link reads as: “Happle Tea Under the Sea” It rhymes. 😛
Brooklyn, huh? I moved out of NYC a few years ago. I’m not really much of a city person, but I found a few areas in the city that felt very “uncity-like.” I hope you’ll like it there.
Always happy to see comics from you. As usual, this one brought a smile to my face. A great way to start off the weekend!
The version of the myth i was read as a kid was that while Zeus got to pick first, and chose the sky, Posidon was actually hoping for that because he felt the depths of the sea were much greater!
the only one with the shitty gig is the youngest brother, doomed to rule ghost caveland
This is the version I heard too!
Same here
For a moment there, I thought that jellyfish was a plastic bag.
Would have also worked for the idea of showing how oceans suck a bit. 😛
Whew! I’m glad that’s what it was… I thought at first Sasquatch had got you!!
Awesome comic as always!
Well it’s good to hear you’ve been okay K.
Did miss the comics, but I know how real life can interfere with things.
Anyways I don’t think Poseidon really minds, after all he can take all is anger out on all the folks traveling the seas and oceans!
Under the sea~
Under the sea~
Darling its better~
Down where it’s water~
Take it from me!
Hey! You make supercool comics that I like. I will put up with mysterious disappearances because I can’t make your comics. Develop an accent out there! Thanks for the comic.
Eh I still think Hades got the rawest part of this deal. He’s got to deal with a bunch of whiney undead humans in denial
And let’s be honest here, when it comes to raw deals, Poseidon’s doesn’t even come close to Hades’.
Also, glad to hear you’re okay Mr. K. And best of luck in Brooklyn.
I love the sky too, but I think I would have been happy with the sea…
it’s good to see a new comic…just be safe/careful in your new place, kk? 🙂
I love this stuff! Thanks for makin’ these!
“Life is like a toilet: what you get out of it depends on what you put into it.” — Tome Lehrer
The version of the myth i read has the three play dice zeus is the winner and picks the sky
poseidon picks the sea just what he wanted for he knows of its vast hidden wealth
hades being the unluckiest of the three is stuck with hades and he hates it but he learns to make the most of it and is very possesive of every single soul who enters his domain
Poseidon: not hairy or tanned enough to be a god of land or sky.
I’m back regularly to check if a new comic is up nowadays and I just have to say that for some reason I didn’t notice the jellyfish the first time I saw the comic. Love Poseidons facial expression in that last frame. So mad and so sad haha. Zeus comment in the last frame is pure gold too.
I hope your moving and living in Brooklyn is working out. Make sure you take care of yourself before worrying about us but I can’t wait until my bi-weekly dose of mythological fun is up and running again.
There’s a lot of hate for Hades in the comments but by my account he got a pretty great gig. Sure he lives in ghost cave land, but everything from the surface down is his. That means all the precious metals and gemstones. I could definitely be happy living in a kingdom that literally possess all the riches of the earth. Zeus can keep his clouds.
Its been a while, hope you are OK! If you are not up to more comics, it is OK, just tell us what is up. I’ll start worrying about you!
Yup Calypso’s right. At least assure us that Sasquatch didn’t get you
Miss you, K!
Is everything alright? It’s been quite some time since anyone has heard from you.
I guess we have a new website for the comic to poke fun at.
http://sasquatchgenomeproject.org
Poke fun? That is inspirational! Ahaha
“Damn, that’s majestic” gets me every time I stop by the page, even a month later XD
We keep visiting the page, yet nothing has changed. Is this madness?
Certainly a mark of obsessive behavior!
It’s an addiction. XD
We have to stop. But addiction is a powerful thing.
This site is still number one on my daily webcomic trawl.
I’ve officially started worrying about you. I will assume you are held captive by robot monkeys from India until further notice.
We must plan a rescue mission!
No worries, and no pressure. Take care of yourself first. Sure, I’d be happy to have you return to writing webcomics, but not at the expense of your own well-being.
NO WE MUST PANIC! IT’S THE ONLY WAY TO SAVE HIM!
I’m pretty sure robot monkeys from India are at the expense of his well-being.
The digital waste hurts considerably less when it is flung at you, at least. Too bad the monkeys have robotically enhanced face-ripping skills.
You okay man?
Y U NO NEW POSTS? I can only go so long with a webcomic down. I haven’t felt this much webcomic withdrawal since the end of American Elf. >.>
He’s doing ok. Check his Twitter! 😀
Can’t wait for more comics :<
Oh thank goodness! Or maybe the monkeys are faking his twitter to make people not look for him? We will find out if there is an update, indian robots or not, monkeys could not imitate the art, humor, and intelligence of the comics!
It must feel really nice knowing that we all love your work so much that we continuously check back (some of us daily) hoping for something new!
I mean that in the most sincere fashion, just so you know. 🙂
Hope all is well in Brooklyn!
I’m guessing next update will be an October compilation? Maybe?
according to my books on greek mythology the kingdoms of the 3 primary gods was determined by a game of dice only pluto didn’t get what he wanted
posiedon also shows off his love of the sea in the birth of aphrodite when he use his trident to raise a wave taller than olympus to show the ocean is the place with the real power
