I don’t care how much meat from a ridiculous bird gets thrown at you, sometimes it’s just not worth the physical and emotional trauma of hauling yourself around to visit extended family. Many of us have to suffer through grueling conversations, awkward reintroductions, and boredom so intense it could kill someone not accustomed to it. Is it really worth it for that bird? Is it?!
Nevermind, it totally is. I take it all back.
This Thursday is the culmination of what would be a minor extinction event for other, lesser species, but is simply another Thanksgiving for our noble friend, the turkey. People all around the US, both religious and secular, will meet around the dinner table with their close or extended families to share a meal and to give thanks to gods, the universe, the flying spaghetti monster, or whatever force they choose to affiliate themselves with. Some of us will just complain to the people around us, but then again some of us have probably earned that right. I would encourage everyone celebrating (and those not celebrating!) to just take a moment to think of the good things you have in your life and appreciate them as fully as you can.
Life is a challenging experience and sometimes it can become overwhelming, but it is not without its perks. Even when you feel like things are difficult, there are still things to be thankful for, to recognize and appreciate. The simple act of appreciation can often help ease the burdens we all live with.
One thing I hope you fin folks will appreciate is that I’ve been working diligently on the first Happle Tea book! I was hoping to have it ready for Christmas but I’ll have to do a Kickstarter campaign and that means a 30 day period of raising funds. I’m searching for a new place to live, thinking about purchasing myself a car, and generally working my buns off on freelance gigs, Happle Tea, Patreon rewards, and this book, so I will not have enough money to fund the printing myself. I’m hopeful that you guys, girls, and others will be ready to contribute to the campaign when it’s ready! I will be keeping everyone posted on its progress. As of right now, the comics are all laid out, the text is in place, a couple of bonus essays have been written, and I’ve started designing the cover. I’ve also got the pages for bonus material set aside, I’ll just have to finish that stuff up but that will be fun.
Anyway, I’m also writing a lot more so hopefully I’ll be able to get back to doing comics more regularly. This once a week thing just doesn’t feel right to me! There are also a bunch of mythology strips written so don’t worry, we’ll get back to that shortly.
I hope all those celebrating have a lovely Thanksgiving and I hope that those of you not celebrating simply have a lovely day!
And when Thanksgiving is over we have You’rewelcomegiving!

Not the bird, the pie. The pie was what made the boredom survivable. I love the traditional Thanksgiving meal, but it was definitely the pie.
I really want to see Lil K’s extended family! More sasquatches? Leviathans? That chupacabra uncle? Goblins? J.P. Necromancer!?
I’ve been readin yur comics diligently. im srs.
Since when you were black and white.

Join the campaign to have ‘Black Friday’ renamed ‘You’rewelcomegiving Day’

I found myself stranded, away from a country that celebrates thanksgiving and also most of my immediate family this year. My mother and I enjoyed an early “Christmas Dinner” at a pub, and I have, ironically, been spending a lot of time with the parts of my distant family I rarely see. Thanksgiving is still about family, even without thanksgiving!
Waaaaa!
Have you deserted us again?!?!
??? 🙁
Seems like the Thanksgiving spirit has found Scott and exacted his american justice upon him :O
Are you…. are you dead? I would be pretty sad if you were dead. The Internet would have lost a valuable, talented comicker and a good dude. (at least, I think you’re a good dude, you seem pretty chill in your blog posts 😉
Where are you, you are missing the perfect oppotunities to make humorous comments about christmas and new years.
Not having experienced Thanksgiving due to my non-American-ness I only have the related experiences of others to go on. Maybe I’m thankful we don’t have it
GAHHHHHH!!!!! COME BACK!! WHERE ARE YOU!?!?!?!?!!
please come back. your work is f*cking golden
My science teacher is Sasquatch and the vice principal is Chupacabra.
