It wasn’t long into these incredible deleted scenes that the entire neighborhood felt the awful power of its most boring content. The film seemed to project and ever-growing field of pure nonsense that put all it touched directly to sle-zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Hollywood’s always about packing DVD releases with “bonus footage” and “special features”, most of the time I’m just left wondering why, if these scenes are so mind blowing and so outstanding, they were not included in the film in the first place? Oh that’s right, they were cut specifically because they are crap or, at the very best, they just didn’t quite fit the narrative. Thank the heavens for DVD releases right?

I guess that stuff doesn’t really sell too well if you’re being completely blunt. “Buy it now and own footage we didn’t think was good enough for the actual movie!” Oh, gee, thanks!

Disclaimer: I’ve not seen the film mentioned in today’s comic but I am familiar with the work from which it was derived. While I’ve always thought the biblical flood story an interesting one, I can’t say I ever expected it to be made into a Hollywood blockbuster. A rather large amount of water being dumped on the earth doesn’t exactly strike me as a riveting visual experience. There are certainly aspects of the story that could be compelling when told in a visual medium, but still. I guess that’s why I didn’t bother seeing the movie. Well, that and the fact that I didn’t know it existed until I started seeing commercials for the DVD version.

Did it really take the flood story being developed into a movie for me to do a Noah related comic? Hard to believe, but yes it did. The problem with Noah and the flood is that, being such a widely known and popular tale, there have been a lot of jokes already made about most of the more familiar aspects of the story. Personally, I try pretty hard not to write jokes that other people have already covered. It’s rather difficult, especially with the internet, and I’m certainly not perfect, but I try.

Anyway, we’ve talked about the flood and flood stories in other blog posts so I’m keeping this post light. Sorry! There will be another, hopefully more compelling post on Thursday!

Also, how about that 3 comics on time in a row thing? Like Sisyphus’s boulder, I’m on a roll!
