About the Comic
Happle Tea is a comic written and drawn by one Scott Maynard and is the only comic that excoriates religion, pop culture, and politics while, at the same time, lauding the world of cryptozoology.

Scott has been known to associate with a panoply of creatures ranging from the mighty Sasquatch to the lesser known Dire Owl and is on a first-name basis with all of them. Happle Tea is a factual account of his dealings with supernatural beings, gods, and his monster friends related in the strip by his comic doppelganger, Lil K.

While not working on Happle Tea, he is often writing and drawing other comics, working on animations, or playing guitar. Scott is currently enrolled at the Art Institute of Boston as an Animation major.

FAQ

What do I need to know?

Not much. The strip is designed to be read without much prior knowledge. Sometimes it helps to know mythology to really appreciate the jokes, but when that happens, the blog is there to teach you a thing or two without much time investment! The only things you should know are:
1. The main character is a little boy of undetermined age by the name of Lil K.
2. Lil K lives with Sasquatch and God (who takes the form of a cat more often than not).
3. His best friend is Allev, the blonde kid who lives nearby.
4. Monsters, gods, and creatures of all sorts make appearances throughout the comic!

How Do You Make the Strip?
I use photoshop for everything, pretty much. Sometimes I sketch the strip on paper and scan it in and work from there, and sometimes I sketch it out in photoshop. If you’re interested in learning some interesting techniques, my friend Matt has some wonderful tutorials on his deviantart. You can find them here.

If you’d like to watch me draw a strip, check out this 2 hour video of me drawing the strip for May 6th, “Villain Confusion” that details EVERY THING in real time!

If you’d rather simply get the gist of what it is I do, check out this youtube version that clocks in at about 10 minutes.

What’s this Tip Jar?

It’s a way to support Happle Tea financially. There’s no obligation to tip for comics, but all money goes toward keeping the site running smoothly, merchandise, and keeping food in my belly so I can continue to write and draw strips! This is a temporary measure until we can sell merchandise more regularly. Tipping doesn’t get you anything other than a warm feeling in your heart, as I’d like to always keep the site free for people to view. If you can’t tip, that’s fine, but if you enjoy the comics at least tell your friends!

Will You Link to my Comic?
NO.

Just kidding. If you have a cool comic you can link me to it, if I absolutely love it I may link to it. If I don’t, it doesn’t mean I don’t like it though!

What Is 10km?

10km Studios is Ten Thousand Masks. Right now it’s just my bro William and I, but we’re considering expanding our group in the future!

Will You Draw Me Something?

I would love to, unfortunately I am very busy. I do commissions when I can so if you want something, you can email me and I can let you know if I have some time and how much it’d cost.

How Did You Make This Sweet Website?

Happle Tea uses Word Press powered by ComicPress. These are excellent tools for anyone trying to start their own webcomic site, but require a fair amount of work to customize. Check them out!
